As you know one of the many perks of Franklin Academy is the No Homework Policy. This does not mean that the boys can go home and veg out on video games. Any missing assignments (due to absences or other reasons) will be sent home to complete in a timely manner. I will also post some study ideas that will increase your sons success in class.
The first few weeks we are going to be working on the multiplication tables up to the number 12. We will even be having Minute Math races. So make sure your student knows his stuff! There are flashcards available at the dollar store. There are also many websites where he can practice his times tables too. http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/timestable/interactive.htm
I can not encourage reading enough. Let your son read anything that interests him. This could be a comic book, a National Geographic magazine, the latest football scores, or even a new car brochure. The more that he is exposed to, the better reader he will become. He should be reading for AT LEAST a half hour daily.
Weekly Vocabulary Words Since it is a short week we will be sending two weeks on the same words. In class we will be reading "My Brother Martin". Click here to link to the spelling and vocab words at Spelling City http://www.spellingcity.com/kaybrady/
